The New Mexico Statewide
Transition Coordinating Council (NMSTCC)—a state-level
transition team is focused on creating an infrastructure for
communities to develop and improve transition services. The NM
STCC is designed to open doors for interagency collaboration at
the state level that is intended to enhance cooperation at the
local level.
Council members study rural
and urban demonstration sites and disseminate the information to
local stakeholders in regional workshops. The STCC also studies
how to help higher education develop high quality transition
training. As part of a state systems change grant the NM STCC
has helped local education agencies with transition programming.
Part of the STCC work has resulted in the NM Transition Summer
Institutes, which respond to priority needs in transition.
The New Mexico Statewide
Transition Coordinating Council includes members from every
region in the state. The STCC meets bi-monthly to work on
support systems for youth exiting high school.
